Casting
- Additive Manufacturing, Case Study
Metal X system can produce metal parts (steel, stainless, etc.) by printing bound metal powder and sintering it to full density. This effectively replaces small-batch castings or CNC-machined metal parts. For instance, Guhring’s 60%-lighter steel cutters were sintered parts from the Metal X. In general, engineers can use a Metal X to make complex metal parts (such as custom brackets, tools or molds) that would otherwise require costly casting or machining, albeit with the processing steps of wash and furnace sinter similar to casting.
